Smoke in the home causes severe health problems in Guatemala 3) A low price accessible to people with limited disposable income. 4) A relatively large cooking area that allows the preparation of several foods at once. 5) The reduction of the use of firewood, creating an economic benefit (many famillies in rural Guatemala cook on open fires.) 6) A body that doesn't heat up substantially, reducing the danger of burns.

A design manual for the stove is available. Tostadita Productions would like the film to empower people everywhere to use this stove design; we hope the film is a more exciting media than the written Design and Fabrication Guides. It was mainly filmed in Xela, Guatemala in 2009, the base of AIDG Guatemala.

It was produced by Ben and Joe and Amilcar were instrumental in building a stove on camera. Many others contributed to the footage such as Evan, Silvia Tropicale, Werni and Santos of Xelateco (local Rocket Box manufacturers); as with many AIDG projects, volunteers jumped in to help. The Guatemalan villages included in the footage are mainly Nueva Alianza and Nueva Libertad (Huehuetenago.) Families in both communities participated in projects with these stoves and the film tries to give viewers an impression of the households in which they are used. In Nueva Libertad the prevailing Mayan language is Chuj, as demonstrated by Pedro 19 minutes into the film.

Alex and Juanito, the singers, are from Nueva Libertad. Other shots of the breathtaking Guatemalan countryside are taken from Belen and Palmera Xoluitz. There is also footage from Parque Imbo, Xela, the hang-out of the city's under-catered-for skaters. One in 3 of us, roughly 2 billion people don't have basic services such as electricity, sanitation and clean drinking water. Access to these services is essential to breaking the cycle of poverty in developing countries.
