I was disappointed / unimpressed to find that our classic Sony DSC digital camera no longer worked after upgrading to Windows 8.1! I spent hours to find: a) Sony does not issue DSC drivers for Windows 8 b) Installing the Windows XP drivers (which I got from both Sony's own site and a third party site) in Windows compatibility mode didn't work c) The device manager continued to list a yellow triangle for the DSC device, and picking my own driver did not work. The options were to: Install Windows XP as a virtual machine (no); buy a new camera (NO), buy a USB memory card reader on eBay (search for 'Memory stick Pro USB adapter'). I wasn't sure if it would work, but fortunately it did, and I am now able to read the Memory sticks quickly. Thanks so much for the advice; bought MSP and USB adapter and am back in business.
