Tom, I've never had and 811H and didn't know there were two green wires. But I did have an AL-1200 and did the mod myself. The purpose of the wire is to short the input to the 10M input matching circuit to ground. If you can trace the wires and determine which one goes to chassis ground - that's the one you want. If it's not clear to you, I would get back in touch with Ameritron (preferably by phone in front of the amp with the cover off) before you snip. Hope this helps.
